Monsoon Health Guide: Beating Dengue, Malaria and Viral Fever

The monsoon brings relief from the heat — and a sharp rise in fever cases. Most are viral and settle in a few days, but dengue and malaria need prompt testing.

Warning signs that need a doctor

  • Fever above 102°F lasting more than two days
  • Severe body ache, pain behind the eyes or a rash
  • Vomiting, belly pain or bleeding gums
  • A child who is unusually drowsy or not drinking

Simple prevention

  • Empty standing water in coolers, pots and tyres every week
  • Use nets and full-sleeve clothes at dawn and dusk
  • Drink boiled or filtered water
  • Don't take painkillers other than paracetamol without advice

Our laboratory runs dengue NS1, malaria and CBC tests 24 hours a day, so you can get answers the same day.
