Monsoon Health Guide: Beating Dengue, Malaria and Viral Fever

The monsoon brings relief from the heat — and a sharp rise in fever cases. Most are viral and settle in a few days, but dengue and malaria need prompt testing.
Warning signs that need a doctor
- Fever above 102°F lasting more than two days
- Severe body ache, pain behind the eyes or a rash
- Vomiting, belly pain or bleeding gums
- A child who is unusually drowsy or not drinking
Simple prevention
- Empty standing water in coolers, pots and tyres every week
- Use nets and full-sleeve clothes at dawn and dusk
- Drink boiled or filtered water
- Don't take painkillers other than paracetamol without advice
Our laboratory runs dengue NS1, malaria and CBC tests 24 hours a day, so you can get answers the same day.
